No, I’m not thinking of werewolves. . .I promise. ;-)

I have integrated my website with WordPress and will no longer be posting new entries here. So if you want to know what I’m up to, on a day to day basis, please visit:

http://amandamakepeace.com

I’m still updating links and text, so if something goes wonky try reloading the page.

I won’t be deleting this blog, so you can still peruse the old posts here to see how it all began. :-)

Voting has begun in the 9th Annual EBSQ Ripped Off Show and will continue through the end of the week, 8 August. Siamese amongst the Rocks was inspired by Tracey Allyn Greene’s Siamese Cat. I love Tracey’s River Rock Portraits, as I am a lover of stones too. It seemed only natural to bring one of Tracey’s River Rock Cat’s into my world of stones and pebbles.

Dreaming of Pebbles- The One Pebble Project is back up and running after I had a dream of pebble deliveries last night.

AOTD – In other words, Artist of the Day. Today it’s the talented Alma Lee!

Meow Mixer – An Etsy treasury featuring beautiful cats and my weird, flying goddess head. Don’t ask. . .

The Magic Skin – I see books as works of art too. This is one of my cherished and oldest books. An 1897 ed. of The Magic Skin. Found it today while unpacking. :-)

FYI – We are moved in but I imagine it will be a few weeks before we are truly settled.

The Ripped Off Show is an annual tradition at EBSQ, but this was my first time participating. What a blast!! I partnered with fellow EBSQ Artist, Tracey Allyn Greene, who you will remember from an earlier post created a Tree Frog painting on stone as her Rip of my Art. Tracey is well known for her River Rock Portraits. :-)

Little did Tracey know that I was going to Rip one of her River Rock paintings!

Will be Away

You might have already noticed the drop off in blog posts recently. It’s probably going to remain skimpy till after August 1st, when hopefully my family and I will have moved. Yes, moving time. I hate moving, though it doesn’t compare international moving.

In the meantime I have put the One Pebble Project on hold, and most everything else.

I have one painting that I’m going to complete this week. It is for the EBSQ 2009 Ripped Off show. I would share a WIP photo, but this is hush hush. :-D

My partner for the show, Tracey Allyn Greene, uploaded her entry this week:

In between packing I will still be working on my novel, More than Human. You can find updates about that on my Live Journal Blog - Creating Worlds.

Life should be back to normal by August 1st, at least as normal as it can be. ;-)

Its been an odd week. Monday I had a physical therapy appointment that ended up irritating the problems in my neck. They only had orders to work on my lower back, and didn’t seem to take into account that the exercise for my back my mess with my neck. :-/ It’s taken me all week to get back to where I started before the physical therapy, which isn’t great to begin with. Tomorrow I see the Neurosurgeon. I’m hoping he will have some answers on how to fix my spine.

To start, here are a few things of interests:

Utrecht Art Supply has been featuring Artists on their Twitter Background. My painting the Last Green was featured earlier in the week.

If you are a book fanatic like me, you might want to follow Penguin Group (USA). They give away free books in mini contests on Twitter. I won a book just yesterday. :-)

For those of you interested in my writing journey, I just completed a short story called Lil’ Red. I wrote it for a fun challenge on a writer’s forum.

And now, the commission I neglected to post (since I was paralyzed with pain on Monday afternoon):

And the winner is . . . Robin Cruz McGee!!! Robin’s prize is a free, original ACEO created by moi. :-) Pics to come later!

Gathering Copper FeathersRobin is a fellow Artist at EBSQ where he delights us with his creations in metal and on paper.

I can never remember a time when I did not know I was an artist. Yet, for many years I believed I would earn my living elsewhere. After time spent in those other avenues, I eventually came back around to pick that thing I had kept only for special occasions and became an artist.

I was afraid after a day of little interest that my trivia question was too difficult, but I just knew there had to be someone out there who had passed through North Georgia. Yonah Mountain is well known to anyone who lives near Cleveland or Helen.

As it turns out, Robin did some repelling off the cliffs around Yonah Mountain as a young man. How cool!

Yonah is the Cherokee word for Bear. It makes a perfect backdrop for my Black Bear family that I will start painting today. And yes, there are Black Bears in Georgia! :-D
